«Consonance»

Consonance, to sound in my own way, to adjust myself to high sound, commensurate my art with the "Bach sound" of the great masters of painting - these are the thoughts that arose in my mind while selecting of paintings for the exhibition in the S.P.A.S. gallery.

Color, as a powerful force, entered my painting thanks to my first teacher, the artist - Edwarda Borisovna Bery. Also from her I learned the lessons of impressionism. Later in the Higher Art and Industrial School named after Vera Mukhina (now the Stieglitz Art and Industrial Academy) were received the basics of professional art, a love for drawing arose.

All the further development as an artist went through self-education - I studied with great masters, visiting the Russian Museum and the Hermitage, went to exhibitions of contemporary art.

Rembrandt, Velasquez, El Greco, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Titian; Matisse, Picasso, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Renoir, Monet, Vrubel, Filonov, Goncharova, Petrov-Vodkin, Altman - this is an incomplete list of the Great Teachers of Painting before whom I bow.

I believe that this painting should speak its own language, only its own one. Great decorativeness can coexists with a great thought, philosophical overtones - with theatricality, grotesqueness. The main idea is intertwined with secondary, side motives, supported by them. But these, at first glance, secondary motives, just as convex and vividly represented, like the main figures. The collision of a disparate leads to an unexpected and strong effect. The compositional structure is absolutely free, it breaks all the conventions. At the same time, the picture (work of art) must be a harmonious unit, from it comes its own "musical" sound.

My personality as an artist is such that I work in different styles; according to time, events, environment. The thought that I put into the picture is not always very clear to the viewer, but I indeed want everyone to move in own direction of associations and thoughts. But at the same time the work should give the impression of accessibility. Thought in the picture does not mean for me "literary", and this is one of the ways of deepening and significance of the work. The themes that are close to me and to which I return as if on a new step are "Good and Evil" ("Focus", "Rise"), this is my reading, in my foreshortening, the Gospel ("Two on the Branches," "Catch"), this is the theme "Woman in the Modern World" (works "Spring Suite", "Solitude"), theme - "Portrait". Recently, I found my "consonance" in the theme "Still Life" and "Bathers".
